Our Cerebral Palsy Journey
This blog was created with the goal of reaching and supporting other parents of children with special needs. My name is Cassie and I wanted to share my journey as a twin mom and as a mom to a child with special needs. When our son was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy in 2022, we were devastated wondering what this diagnosis would mean for his future. Neither my husband nor I had close experience with significant special needs, and we found ourselves in uncharted territory.
For the past year, I’ve been a stay-at-home mom to a busy crew—our 4-year-old twins, Jack and Ellie, and our youngest, Mackenzie. Prior to staying home, I worked full time for a local municipality. My husband, Devin, is truly my rock: a supportive, loving, and hands-on partner and dad who makes the chaos of family life so much easier and sweeter. And of course, our family wouldn’t be complete without Cooper, our rescue pup we adopted right before the world shut down in 2020—our very first “baby.”
Over the past three years, we’ve learned that while some parts of this journey remain hard, others bring unexpected beauty—like watching Jack’s determination as he works to meet milestones that many take for granted. He amazes us every day.
My hope is that this space offers support and encouragement to other parents—especially twin parents and families navigating the world of special needs. If sharing our experience can help even one person feel a little less alone, then this blog is doing exactly what I hoped it would.
I’m always open to connect, chat, and share what we’ve learned. You’re not alone in this.
